At ReCOM, we believe that each individual's welfare is of paramount importance and we recognise that some may be vulnerable to abuse or neglect. We take seriously our responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of our learners, young and old, whilst being trained. Our Safeguarding Policy commits us to:
- Ensuring learners are protected from maltreatment when engaged with ReCOM
- Ensuring that all trustees, employees, trainers and volunteers understand their role in safeguarding the welfare of learners and each other
- Promoting a culture which makes ReCOM a safe organisation to learn with, train for and work within
To achieve these aims, we will:
- Provide a safe environment to work, train, study and learn
- Value learners; listening to and respecting their views and wishes
- Carry out safe recruitment of trustees, employees, trainers and volunteers, checking suitability through the government's Disclosure and Barring Service
- Provide clear procedures for dealing with suspicions or allegations of abuse, in line with guidance from the Local Authority and locally agreed multi-agency procedures.
- Provide safeguarding training and awareness raising to trustees, employees, trainers and volunteers
