Kathy retired at 60 to care for her mother whose needs had become greater due to dementia. When she lost her mother, Kathy was understandably bereft and felt that returning to the workplace would help her with the loss by giving her something to focus on and keep busy.
Although Kathy had previously worked as a touch typist she felt that her general IT knowledge was out of date and she wasn’t sure where to start. After seeing an advert for ReCOM’s job-seekers service in her local library, she decided to get in touch. Since registering with ReCOM in September 2019 Kathy has completed 7 hours of one-to-one sessions and now has:
- An updated CV
- A personalised cover letter
- Access to job search websites
- Knowledge and confidence to do internet searching
- Now has her own email and understanding of how to use it
- Greater confidence in her IT skills
Most importantly, through our sessions, Kathy has found a sense of well-being that has been so beneficial to her progress both personally and with her journey back to the workplace.
